January 5, 1987 Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Potts, that the Mayor and/or City Clerk be authorized to send a letter to the Minnesota Gambling Board stating the Hugo City Council has no problem with the issuance of a Gambling License for the Forest Lake Area Hockey Association to sell pulltabs at the Blacksmith Lounge. Further, the City Council is willing to waive the 30 -day waiting period. All aye. Motion Carried. 10.0 OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS 10.1 Designation of Depository of Citv Funds Currently the official depositories of city funds are the First State Bank of Hugo, First National Bank of St. Paul, and All Twin City Federal offices. Administrator Huber stated that the League of Minnesota Cities is in the process of creating an investment pool for member cities, but all the details are not completed as yet. Attorney Johnson stated that this option could be included as an official depository for city funds at the time the pool is officially created. Motion made by Vail, seconded by Peltier, designating the First State Bank of Hugo, the First National Bank of St. Paul, and all Twin City Federal offices as the Official Depositories.for city funds, for the year 1987 All aye. Motion Carried. 10.2 Designation of Official Newspaper Currently the official newspaper for the City of Hugo is the Forest Lake Times. Both the Times and the White Bear Press have requested that they be appointed. Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Vail, to designate the Forest Lake Times as the Official Newspaper for the year 1987. VOTING AYE: Atkinson, Olson VOTING NAY: Peltier, Potts, Vail Motion Failed. Motion made by Peltier, seconded by Potts, to designate the White Bear Press as the Official Newspaper for the year 1987. VO'T'ING AYE: Peltier, Potts, Vail, Atkinson VO'T'ING NAY: Olson Motion Carried. 10.3 Election of Acting Mayor At the first regular meeting of the City Council following an election, the Council is required to appoint an acting Mayor to serve in absence of the elected Mayor. Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Olson, to appoint Deane Vail as acting Mayor for the year 1987. VOTING AYE: Potts, Olson, Vail, Atkinson VO`T'ING NAY: Peltier Motion Carried.
