January 5, 1987 <br />Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Potts, that the Mayor and/or City Clerk be <br />authorized to send a letter to the Minnesota Gambling Board stating the Hugo City <br />Council has no problem with the issuance of a Gambling License for the Forest Lake <br />Area Hockey Association to sell pulltabs at the Blacksmith Lounge. Further, the <br />City Council is willing to waive the 30 -day waiting period. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />10.0 OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS <br />10.1 Designation of Depository of Citv Funds <br />Currently the official depositories of city funds are the First State Bank of Hugo, <br />First National Bank of St. Paul, and All Twin City Federal offices. Administrator <br />Huber stated that the League of Minnesota Cities is in the process of creating <br />an investment pool for member cities, but all the details are not completed as yet. <br />Attorney Johnson stated that this option could be included as an official depository <br />for city funds at the time the pool is officially created. <br />Motion made by Vail, seconded by Peltier, designating the First State Bank of Hugo, <br />the First National Bank of St. Paul, and all Twin City Federal offices as the <br />Official Depositories.for city funds, for the year 1987 <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />10.2 Designation of Official Newspaper <br />Currently the official newspaper for the City of Hugo is the Forest Lake Times. Both <br />the Times and the White Bear Press have requested that they be appointed. <br />Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Vail, to designate the Forest Lake Times as the <br />Official Newspaper for the year 1987. <br />VOTING AYE: Atkinson, Olson <br />VOTING NAY: Peltier, Potts, Vail <br />Motion Failed. <br />Motion made by Peltier, seconded by Potts, to designate the White Bear Press as the <br />Official Newspaper for the year 1987. <br />VO'T'ING AYE: Peltier, Potts, Vail, Atkinson <br />VO'T'ING NAY: Olson <br />Motion Carried. <br />10.3 Election of Acting Mayor <br />At the first regular meeting of the City Council following an election, the Council <br />is required to appoint an acting Mayor to serve in absence of the elected Mayor. <br />Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Olson, to appoint Deane Vail as acting Mayor for <br />the year 1987. <br />VOTING AYE: Potts, Olson, Vail, Atkinson <br />VO`T'ING NAY: Peltier <br />Motion Carried. <br />
