99
MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL
September 2, 1986
The public hearing to consider District Memorial Hospital's request to service a portion
of Hugo with ambulance service was called to order at 6:00 PM.
PRESENT: Hauer, Peltier, Potts, Schwab, McAllister
Terry Brenny, Barry Mattson, and Larry Irsfeld, representing DMH, were present to
present reasons why Hugo should designate a portion of its northern area to DMH for
ambulance service. It was their feeling that response time, especially in the case
of an emergency, was crucial. They were interested in obtaining approximately 152nd
Street and Highway 61 to the north. Leonard Schoeller stated that he belonged to
Group Health, and that there only certain hospitals that they can go to. He was
informed that the patient will be taken to any hospital requested unless it is deter-
mined by the doctor or paramedic that the patient should go to a trauma center.
Ken Granger asked what would happen if the service became economically unfeasible or
not self-supporting. Mr. Mattson stated that the service is paying for itself
For the record, Mayor McAllister recognized receipt of a petition signed by approxi-
mately 100 Hugo residents stating their desire that the City of Hugo retain White
Bear Lake for its ambulance service.
The public hearing was closed at 6:45 PM.
The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:06 PM.
PRESENT: Hauer, Peltier, Potts, Schwab, McAllister
3.0 APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION: Peltier made motion, Potts seconded, to approve the minutes of August 18,
1986, after the following changes have been made:
(5.4) 4th line should read: she will pay for any assessments.....
(5.5) 10th line should read: could be done at that level.
All aye. The Council concurred with
his recommendation because of the "quality" response, and the good working relation-
ship with the current provider.
