MAY 21 , 1975 PUBLIC HEARING - STREET AND STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENT NO. 975 -1 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 8:08 P.M. by Mayor Lease. City Council <br /> members present were: Smith, Leroux, Lease and Schletty. Also present were <br /> Howard Kuusisto, City Engineer; Charles Johnson, City Attorney; and Robert <br /> Ehlers, Fiscal Agent representing Ehlers and Associates. <br /> Absent: LaValle <br /> Mayor Lease read the public hearing notice published in the Forest Lake <br /> Times. <br /> Mr. Lease explained that they have had numerous calls from people complain- <br /> ing about water and dust and the Council has put this program together to <br /> eliminate these problems. <br /> Mr. Kuusisto explained the proposed location for the storm seweres. He <br /> stated that most of the streets were gravel prior to the installation of <br /> the sanitary sewer system and that if the stir= sewer project was adopted, <br /> your should have curb and gutters also. <br /> Mr. Ehlers explained that there are three projects in this proposal as <br /> follows: <br /> Estimated Cost Break-down <br /> STREETS $ 145,000 $5.75/foot <br /> CURB AND GUTTER 110,000 $4.25 front foot <br /> STORM SEWER 228,000 60 per Sq. Foot <br /> Mr. Ehlers have an example of what it would cost a person with a 100x 150 <br /> foot lot with all three improvements per year for fifteen years - $203.30. <br /> Pa&, Granger - 14621 Fitzgerald <br /> Wanted to know who is going to benefit from these projects and who wants <br /> it. Mr. Granger felt that we don't need these improvements. <br /> Lease stated that we do have a water problem so we wanted to show you <br /> what it is going to cost to solve the problems. <br /> Ed Granger - 5616 147th Street <br /> Mr. Granger said that he has lived in Hugo 25 years and we have never had <br /> a water problem. He has five lots and this would break him - he would have <br /> to move out of town. He is against storm sewer in Hugo. <br /> Mrs. Sterling Ashby - 5980 Oneka Lake Blvd. <br /> Mrs. Ashby was against the storm sewer and curb and gutter project. She <br /> felt that building up the roads would eliminate the problem. <br /> Robert Ricci - 14716 Fondant Street <br /> Mr. Ricci wanted to know if the $145,000 is above the $175,000 remaining <br /> in the sanitary sewer fund to redo the roads. Mr. Kuusisto explained that <br /> the $145,000 was in addition to the $175,000 to blacktop all the roads, but <br /> if the storm sewer was not put in, the roads would not have to be so wide and <br /> it would not cost that much. <br />
