b' When divided into three (3) or more compartments, <br /> one-half ( 1/2) of the total volume shall be in the <br /> first compartment and the other half equally <br /> divided in the other compartments.c . Connections between compartments shall be baffled <br /> as specified for inlet and outlet baffle devices. <br /> d . Adequate venting shall be provided between <br /> compartments by baffles or by an opening of at <br /> least fifty ( 50) square inches at the top of the <br /> compartment wall . <br /> e' Adequate access to each compartment shall be <br /> provided by one or more manholes as specified in <br /> 404.03, ( 11 ) (a) . <br /> ( 13) Multiple Tanks. Where more than one ( 1 ) tank is used <br /> to obtain the required liquid volume, they shall be <br /> installed as follows: <br /> a. Multiple tanks shall be connected in series. <br /> b. Each tank shall comply with all provisions of this <br /> section . <br /> c . No more than four (4 ) tanks in series can be used <br /> to achieve the required liquid volume. <br /> d . The first tank shall be no smaller in volume than <br /> any subsequent tanks in series. <br /> 404.04. Tank Capacity. The required volume or liquid capacity <br /> of a septic tank shall be determined on the basis of estimated sewage <br /> flows as follows: <br /> ( 1 ) Dwellings. The Septic Tank capacity shall be <br /> determined-1ry thenumber ^of bedrooms contemplated or <br /> provided in the dwelling unit served and shall be at <br /> least as large as the capacities given below: <br /> Number of Bedrooms Tank Liquid Capacities <br /> (Gallons) <br /> 2 or less 1 ,000 <br /> 3 or 4 1 ,200 <br /> 5 or 6 1 , 500 <br /> 7, 8, or 9 2,000 <br /> For ten ( 10) or more Bedrooms, the Septic Tank shall be <br /> sized as an Other Establishment. For multiple family <br /> dwellings containing two (2) or more dwelling units, <br /> the size shall be the sum of the individual dwelling <br /> unit requirements. <br /> 15 <br /> 2 <br />
