(2) Other Establishments ' The liquid capacity of a Septic <br /> Tank serving an establishment or use other than a <br /> dwelling shall be sufficient to provide a Sewage <br /> detention period of not less than thirty-six (36 ) hours <br /> in the tank for Sewage flows less than fifteen hundred <br /> ( 1 , 500) gallons per day, but in no instance shall the <br /> liquid capacity be less than one thousand ( 1 ,000) <br /> gallons. For Sewage flows of fifteen hundred ( 1 , 500) <br /> gallons per day or more, the minimum liquid capacity <br /> shall equal one thousand one hundred twenty-five <br /> ( 1 , 125) gallons plus seventy-five (75) percent of the <br /> daily Sewage flow. <br /> 404.05. Sewage Tank Location . The location of each Sewage Tank <br /> shall be according to the following : <br /> ( 1 ) The Sewage Tank shall be placed so as to be accessible <br /> for maintenance pumping for removal of liquids and <br /> accumulated solids. <br /> (2) The Sewage Tank shall be installed on undisturbed or <br /> compacted soils capable of bearing the weight of the <br /> tank , its contents -and 'covering earth. <br /> (3) Sewage Tanks shall be set back as specified in Table <br /> IV. <br /> (4) Sewage Tanks shall not be placed in areas subject to <br /> flooding or in Floodplains delineated by the Floodplain � ~ <br /> Ordinance as it may be amended from time to time. <br /> Exception: Where Ten ( 10) Year Flood information is <br /> available, Sewage Tanks may be installed within the ten <br /> ( 10) year floodplain floodway zone "A" in accordance <br /> with all provisions of Section 502.06. <br /> 404.06. Maintenance. Each Septic Tank installed under this <br /> Ordinance as well as all existing .Septic Tanks, shall be maintained <br /> in proper operating condition at all times. <br /> ( 1 ) The owner of each septic tank shall be responsible for <br /> maintenance of the tank and may be required to report <br /> its condition to the city. <br /> (2) Accumulated septage shall be removed from each tank <br /> prior to the time when the sludge layer reaches a point <br /> twelve ( 12) inches below the bottom of the outlet <br /> baffle or when the bottom of the scum layer reaches a <br /> point three (3) inches above the bottom of outlet <br /> baffle. <br /> (3) Pumping for removal of Septage from Septic Tanks shall <br /> be performed only by persons certified and licensed by <br /> the City or it ' s agent.
