I <br /> SECTION 3. DEFINITIONS <br /> 301 . Rules. <br /> 301 .01 . In the event of conflicting provisions in the text of <br /> this Ordinance, and/or other ordinances, the more restrictive <br /> provisions shall apply. The Zoning Administrator shall determine <br /> which is more "restrictive" and appeals from .such .determination shall <br /> be made in the manner provided herein . <br /> 301 .02. Words used in the present tense shall include the past <br /> and future tense; the singular includes the plural and the plural <br /> includes the singular. The word "shall " is mandatory, and the word <br /> "may" is permissive. <br /> 301 .03. Unless otherwise specified all distances shall be <br /> measured horizontally. <br /> 302. Definitions. <br /> 302.01 . For the purpose of this Ordinance, certain terms, words <br /> and phrases are hereby defi-ri-ed as follows: <br /> ( 1 ) Agent. Washington County Planning Department and Code <br /> Enforcement . <br /> (2) Aeration . The bringing about of intimate contact <br /> between air and a liquid by spraying the liquid irk he <br /> air, bubbling air through the liquid or agitating <br /> liquid surface in air. <br /> (3) Aeration tank . A tank or container into which liquid <br /> or sewage is subjected to aeration . <br /> (4) Alternative System. An Individual Sewage Treatment <br /> System, other than the Standard -System -defi-ned herein . <br /> ( 5) Applicant. Authorized person , firm or corporation <br /> making application for required permit(s) for a Sewage. <br /> Treatment System, and shall include the owner(s) and <br /> such other parties as may be specifically authorized <br /> for specific requirements. <br /> (6) Baffle. A device permanently attached or integral to <br /> the Sewage Tank to provide proper operation of the <br /> Sewage Tank and maximum retention of solids. <br /> (7) Bedrock . That layer of parent materials which by its <br /> composition and structure, as compared to soil , is <br /> inadequate to provide adequate filtration and treatment. <br /> of Sewage Tank Effluent. <br />
