300-11. EXCAVATING WORK, <br />Subd. A. Excavation Inspection. All installation work <br />or repair BY connections to t Sesewer system including <br />grades, bends and backfillings shall be inspected by <br />the Plumbing Inspector. No work shall be covered or <br />backfilled until directed by said Inspector. All work <br />and excavations shall be protected by barricades and <br />warning markers and lights reasonable and suitable for <br />the purpose. The City shall be held harmless of any <br />claim or loss as might otherwise arise for damage, loss <br />or injury caused by or arising by reason of such work <br />being performed. <br />Subd. B. Street Renair and Security. No digging in any <br />type City streets spall be permitted except by special <br />written permission from the City. Backfilling shall be <br />thoroughly compacted with M.H.D. Class 5 gravel base <br />compacted to 100 percent maximum density in 6 inch layers. <br />The base shall be treated and a surface installed in <br />accordance with the Ordinances of the City of Hugo. A <br />bond, letter of credit or cash security, in an amount <br />to be determined by the City, shall be deposited with the <br />City prior to commencement of any digging in any City <br />right -of -way. <br />Subd. C. Unsatisfactory Filling or Repair of City Streets <br />or Ri ht -o - ay. W ere excavations are unsatisfactorily <br />—filled and/or surfacing is improperly patched, the City <br />Council shall cause them to be placed in a satisfactory <br />condition and the cost thereof shall be charged to such <br />plumber or licensed sewer installer making the same. Such <br />plumber or licensed sewer installer shall be given notice <br />thereof and ten (10) days within which to pay such charge. <br />Failure to pay any such charges shall result in forfeiture <br />of security herein required. <br />300-12. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS. All building sewers <br />and sewer service lines shall be of approved cast iron soil pipe, or <br />plastic pipe of a type approved by the City Engineer, or any material <br />approved by the City Engineer. Cast iron pipe joints shall be made <br />by use of jute and pure molten lead well caulked in place, or joints <br />shall be made by using a pre -formed compression gasket or such other <br />joint structure as is approved by the City Engineer. Individual <br />service lines shall not be less than four (4) inches in diameter and <br />shall be placed at a uniform grade of not less than one-eighth (1/8) <br />of an inch per foot. Building sewer lines shall contain no more than <br />two (2) long sweep 90 degree bends with clean outs to surface. The <br />clean outs shall be extended to within six (6) inches of the surface. <br />Each clean out riser and cover shall be cast iron. Clean outs shall <br />be at intervals not to exceed eighty (80) feet. Multiple connections <br />of more than one (1) building shall not be made unless approved by <br />the City -Engineer as provided herein. No inter -connection of the <br />
