JANUARY 16, 1978 •1
MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, to grant the
request of Mr. Robert Barth, Police Chief, to take his
vacation from February 6, 1978 through February 17, 1978.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
Mr. Robert Nethercut, Metro Council, contacted the City Clerk regarding
the status of the Open Space matter. Mr. LaValle will contact Lino
Lakes to try and set up a meeting date.
Mr. George Koland, Maintenance Supervisor, requested permission to paint
City Hall during the winter months. The Council granted the request.
A letter was received from Mr. Don Kloppinhower requesting a light be
installed on the utility pole in front of 14188 Fondant. The letter
was also signed by other neighbors.
MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Spitzer, that the matter
be submitted to Howard Schletty. Mr. Schletty to make a
report to the City Council.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
10.0 MISCELLANEOUS
Mayor LaValle discussed the matter of a rezoning request now before the
Planning Commission. Mrs. Shirley Nelson is requesting a rezoning from
Agriculture to CB on property located southeast of the railroad tracks
in Withrow. In checking with previous members of the City Council and
Planning Commission with the zoning ordinance was passed, it was determined
that there was an oversight made on the zoning map. It was intended that
that property be zoned RB. The applicant is asking for a CB rezoning, so
the Planning Commission is to proceed as is.
James Brevis — Earthen dam
Mayor LaValle instructed Mr. Johnson to investigate the pending legal
status of Mr. Brevig's suit against Mr. Richard Vail.
Mayor LaValle stated that he would like to investigate the possibility of
obtaining gas in bulk for the squad car's use. The city has a 300 gallon
overhead tank to use temporarily until the 1000 gallon underground tank
can be removen. Chief Barth was instructed to research thetowest price
for bulk gas. Barth and George Koland are to find an approprite site for
the tank to be located on city property. The installation of these tanks
is to comply with the code of the State Fire Marshall.
Mr. Johnson stated that he has received the compromise changes in language
relating to the Metro Council's systems statement. However, it does not
address itself to Open Space and reserve capacity. Mr. Johnson will be
meeting with Mr. Jack Frost and Mr. Tony Gnerre, Metro Waste Control
Commission, on January 19, 1978, at 10:30 AM, to go over the situation
on reserve capacity payments and SAC charges.
Councilman Irsfeld has checked with several audit firms for cost estimates
to audit the city's books. The cost will range from $2900 to $3400 for the
audit. The firms are looking for this to be done some time in April or
