Page 78 <br /> July 21 , 1980 <br /> 7.0 UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> Mayor LaValle stated that the Washington County Board of Commissioners has approved <br /> that the Sheriff's office enter into a contract with Hugo for policing. The pro- <br /> posed contract has not yet been submitted to Hugo. <br /> A letter or resignation from Acting Police Chief James Fure was submitted to the <br /> Council, to be effective July 24, 1980. <br /> MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Schletty, to accept James Fure's <br /> resignation. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> A letter of resignation from Officer Mike Gibbs was submitted to the Council to become <br /> effective immediately. <br /> MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Vail, to accept Mike Gibbs' resignation. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> The Mayor took time to express his thanks for the excellent service provided the city <br /> by the resigning officers. <br /> MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Vail, that prior to acceptance of <br /> the resignations of Messrs. Fure and Gibbs, the City Council hereby <br /> waives the requirement for 30 day notice of termiantion of Police <br /> Officers employed by the city. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> It was suggested that the Mayor obtain a letter from Sheriff Trudeau stating that <br /> Washington County will provide police protection for the City of Hugo until the <br /> proposed contract is consummated. <br /> Officer Fure stated that he has utilized two days of sick leave in 52 years and <br /> was wondering about compensation. The union contract has been in effect for two years <br /> and 7 months. <br /> MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by LaValle, that the City of Hugo com- <br /> pensate the resigning Police Officers who will serve Washington County, <br /> 100% of the accrued and unused sick leave accrued since 1/1/78. <br /> MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Vail, that this matter be tabled <br /> until the next meeting to obtain updated information as to how many <br /> dayshave actually been used. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br />
