Page 79 <br /> July 21 , 1980 <br /> A letter from Officer Fare was submitted regarding the status of the part-time officers. <br /> Fure felt that it would be beneficial to the city to retain these men for public <br /> functions that take place during the year. After some discussion, the Council <br /> felt that there would be numerous problems if these men were retained (scheduling, <br /> liability, and administration) . <br /> MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Schletty, that the city accept Mr. <br /> Fure's recommendation and take no action. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> 8.0 NEW BUSINESS <br /> The Council discussed the Emergency equipment being used in private vehicles by the <br /> Fire Department. <br /> MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Schletty, that the Fire Chief be <br /> notified that in accordance with Minnesota State Statutes 169.64 and <br /> 169.68 and various actions by the City Council of Hugo, the use of <br /> personal vehicles for emergency use is prohibited. The Fire Chief <br /> is hereby directed to cease immediately the use of any personal ve- <br /> hicles for such emergency use and to certify no later than August 18, <br /> 1980, that all personal vehicles equippped for emergency use have had <br /> such equipment removed. The Fire Chief is further notified that <br /> future violation of these statutes and policies will result in immediate <br /> prosecution of any member of his department found in violation. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> Let the record show that Councilman Spitzer asked that Officer Fure make a report <br /> regarding this matter and the Spitzer sponsored the motion. <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Spitzer, directing the City Attorney <br /> to set up a meeting with Mr. Bob Lockyear and any Council or <br /> Planning Commission members to further discuss the proposed Compre- <br /> hensive Plan. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> The Metro Council will be holding a public hearing on July 31 , 1980, 2:00 PM, to <br /> discuss draft guidelines establishing a procedure for review of proposed amend- <br /> ments to local comprehensive plans. The Planning Commission will review the data <br /> at their meeting of July 23rd. The Clerk is to call Mike Kuehn to get on their <br /> agenda, and the city will have a representative at the hearing. If a rep is unable <br /> to attend, written comments will be accepted until August 6th. <br /> The Council discussed the outstanding Letter of Credit from Grace Development <br /> for the coverage of necessary repairs needed in the industrial park (culvert in <br /> front of Axin Products) . <br />
