11 <br /> 10.0 CLERK <br /> Mrs. Williams met with Mrs. Prachar regarding her employment as the city's book- <br /> keeper. Because she cannot determine the amount of hours needed to complete the <br /> work, she was unable to submit a monthly fee. She would like to work on an hourly <br /> basis to begin with, and is requesting $7.00/hour. <br /> MOTION: Vail made motion, seconded by Schletty, that the City of Hugo hire Mrs. <br /> Lu Prachar at $7.00/hour to do the bookkeeping for one quarter, and at that <br /> time, enter into a contract. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, Schletty, Vail <br /> VOTING AGAINST: McAllister <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> Councilman McAllister requested his comment, as follows, be entered into the minutes: <br /> "I feel the City of Hugo compensating a clerk/treasurer in excess of $19,000 a year, <br /> and hiring someone else to do the job, is an insult to the taxpayers of the community." <br /> The city received a letter from the 1st State Bank of St. Paul requesting the city <br /> to sign a Paying Agency Agreement. Mrs. Williams contacted Bill Fahey of Ehlers, and <br /> he stated that these are routine in the bonding procedure. McAllister suggested <br /> that the matter be placed on the agenda for the next meeting, and ask that Councilman <br /> Irsfeld comment on the matter. <br /> 11 .0 MISCELLANEOUS <br /> LaValle and McAllister, along with Theodora Peltier, met with the Planning Commission <br /> applicants prior to the regular meeting. Darrell Jacobson, Ray Olson, and George <br /> Atkinson were interviewed. <br /> MOTION: McAllister made motion, seconded by Schletty, to appoint Mr. Darrell <br /> Jacobson to the vacant seat on the Planning Commission. <br /> VOTING FOR: LaValle, McAllister, Schletty, Vail <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> A letter is to be sent to the other applicants expressing the city's appreciation <br /> for their interest. Theodora Peltier, chairwoman for the Ordinance Committee, is <br /> to contact George Atkinson about serving on her committee. <br /> Mayor LaValle discussed the decision to have the professional staff attend only one <br /> meeting per month. (second meeting) . LaValle stated that this is to be implemented <br /> on a trial basis only to determine how it work. <br /> MOTION: Schletty made motion, seconded by McAllister, to adjourn at 10:27 PM. <br /> All aye.
