D.2 EDA MISSION STATEMENT
At the last meeting of the EDA, City staff was provided with direction towards finalizing
potential mission statements for the EDA.
Staff prepared the following draft mission statement for EDA review.
The Goal of the Hugo EDA is to create a unified community with diverse job and
tax bases, brought about by specific emphasis on business retention, expansion,
and attraction.
Klein made motion, Granger seconded to approve the mission statement as presented by
staff.
All Aye. Motion Carried.
Recess for meeting with Washington County Workforce Board
City Staff was approached by Dan Hartman, Assistant City Administrator for the City of
Oakdale, on behalf of the Washington County Workforce Board about providing an
opportunity for the Workforce Board to meet with the Hugo EDA. The Workforce Board
is currently engaging in a community outreach effort. As part of this effort they are
meeting with local government economic development organizations. The Board was
interested in meeting with the Hugo EDA upon hearing of its reformation. The
Workforce Board presented a short PowerPoint presentation detailing their involvement
in the community. Additionally, City Staff took the liberty of presenting a PowerPoint
presentation for the EDA explaining its role in Hugo. Following the presentations was a
short opportunity for a meet and greet of EDA and Workforce Board members.
D.3 EDA GOAL SETTING SESSION
City Staff provided the Board with a list of goals submitted by Charpentier and Klein, as
well as a copy of the 2004 planning commission goals. The Board then brainstormed
potential 2005 goals, which would be used by staff to prepare a formal list of goals for
future board approval.
Miron made motion, Granger seconded to table this item until the next EDA meeting to
allow staff to prepare a formal list of goals for Board approval.
All Aye. Motion Carried.
