A Word From Public Works Winter Parking Ordinance Beginning November 1 and extending through March 31, parking is prohibit- ed on all City streets from 2:00am to 7:00am. Also, if we receive two inches or more of snow any other time during the year, parking is prohibited at those times. This is to allow the Public Works Department to clear the snow from the roadways in a safe and efficient manner. Snow Removal The City of Hugo would like to remind everyone that it is against the law to deposit snow on or next to a public street. Minnesota State Statute 160.27 prohibits plowing, shoveling, blowing or otherwise placing snow onto any public road right-of-way, and doing so is punishable by a misdemeanor. Snow which is moved to the public right-of-way can create hazardous situ- ations including slippery areas, frozen ridges, bumps, sight obstructions and drainage problems. Property owners are liable if an accident occurs as a re- sult of improper snow placement. Al- so, residents should check their mail boxes to ensure they are sturdy and in good condition. Mailboxes that are damaged by snow, and not plow con- tact, will not be repaired by the City Iof Hugo. CaH the Hugo City Half at 651-762-6300 Huo -- - - - - -- Street Sweeping The Public Works Department will begin sweeping paved streets on September 1. Typically, sweeping will take place Monday through Friday, between 7:00am and 4:30pm. It will take about five weeks to sweep all streets. Note that there are private streets that may be swept at other times by private companies. Hydrant Flushing The Public Works Department will be flushing hydrants through- out Hugo starting September 15. It should take two weeks to com- plete all hydrants. Flushing purg- es rust and stagnant water from the system. It is inevitable that some residents will receive rust colored water that could stain laundry. During this time, please check that water coming into the house is clear before use.
