Welcome New Member Jennifer May
A. Everybody introduced himself or herself to Jennifer and welcomed her to the commission. She is a
new resident to Hugo and very excited about getting involved.
II. City Hall Tour
A. It was the first meeting for the Commission in the new city hall.
B. Mike Ericson gave us all a great tour and as a result the Commission decided to continue to have the
meetings in the Oneka Room.
III. Beaver Ponds Park
A. Tom Weidt has looked at the fields and they look good. No erosion has occurred and they were not
disturbed this winter. They will need to be top -dressed and this is on Chris Petree's schedule.
B. The wood fiber is still in good shape and no wood chips need to be put down at this time.
C. The play equipment is in good shape but Tom will check this more carefully.
D. The trash containers are in storage and are ready to be placed in the park.
E. A landscape plan for the whole park will be prepared. The landscape plan will incorporate the future
park planning for Beaver Ponds Park that expanded the park onto the Haubel property. This landscape
will be installed in phases and one of the first phases is to define the boundary between the existing park
and the Haubel property.
IV. Comprehensive Plan Update
A. Robyn will work with John Rask and is hoping to bring a draft for review to the meeting next month.
V. Water Tower Park
A. The park on Fenway Boulevard is almost complete. Status of the development and the park needs to be
verified.
B. Picnic tables, like the one in Beaver Ponds without the extension for accessibility, need to be ordered.
C. The trail on 132nd Street has not been built. It was to be constructed with the development. John Rask
http://www.ci.hugo.mn.us/Parks_Recreation/minutes/041002.htm 9/19/2007
