Parks Commission Meeting 12-11-02 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />neighborhood, support for a winter program in the school gym, input to the park system proposed in the <br />Victor Gardens neighborhood, and continued revision to the Comprehensive Park Plan. <br />B. Future park projects were discussed and included the following: <br />1. The reuse or reconstruction of Lions Park. This park will be impacted in the future. Land use and <br />in particular a site for Good Neighbor Days needs to be planned for. <br />2. The trail connection between County Road 8 and the greenway corridor. This alignment is <br />proposed in the open space behind the post office. <br />3. Further consideration of the use for the old school house. Collaboration with Washington County <br />on planning and securing funding for a possible trailhead will be pursued. <br />4. Continued discussions with Oak Shore Park neighborhood association. <br />5. Improvements to the public land on the west side of Egg Lake may be studied. <br />6. Continued planning for the Park Commission. Update the Comprehensive Plan as needed. <br />IV. Hugo Elementary School <br />A. Barb Kearn has asked the Park Commission if they would contribute to the improvement of the softball <br />field at the Elementary School. The improvement is estimated to cost $10,000 - $12,0000. <br />B. The Park Commission asked that Barb Kearn and Dave Gunther, from the White Bear Recreation <br />Association attend a future meeting to discuss the issue. <br />V. Staffing for 2003 <br />A. Administration of the Park Commission will be changing in 2003 and City Staff will be assisting the <br />Park Commission. <br />B. Laurie McRostie, SEH Landscape Architect, will continue to work with the Commission on special <br />projects. <br />C. The Park Commission presented Laurie with a plant and a thank you for the three years she has worked <br />with the Commission. <br />D. Laurie has said and I quote here "Thank you so much for the opportunity to have worked with all of <br />you at the beginning of planning and developing your park system. You are all very dedicated to parks <br />in Hugo and you have a great vision — it has been so much fun to work with you and I look forward to <br />continuing to be involved in special projects with you.
