Park Fund Subcommittee Update <br />Park Commissioner Clarke gave an overview of the last two meetings that were held by the Park <br />and Subcommittee. At the last meeting Bruce Anderson, Maplewood's Parks & Recreation Director, <br />was in attendance and was able to share his 30 years of experience with the committee. The Park <br />Commission then discussed the various projects that are included on the 5 -year CIP for the Park <br />Commission. The Park Commission agreed with those items but also asked that <br />improvements/redevelopment of Lion's Park is included. Park Commissioner Pedersen suggested <br />that we invite the Lion's Club to the next meeting to see what their needs are for the future. Park <br />Commission members also suggested that a master plan/feasibility study should be completed at <br />Lion's Park. <br />Weidt made a motion, Clarke seconded, to request that the City Council authorizes a master <br />plan/feasibility study for Lion's Park. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VI. Park Signage Update <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree showed the Park Commission photographs taken by <br />Chairperson Kitty Cheesebrow of other community's park signs. Petree also provided the Park <br />Commission pricing on various signs from three different vendors. Petree will bring back samples <br />with the City of Hugo logo at the next Park Commission meeting. <br />VII. Grant Applications for 2005 <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree discussed various upcoming DNR grant programs with the Park <br />Commission. The first grant program that the Park Commission considered was the Metro <br />Greenways grant. This grant allows for the restoration and preservation of land that is critical to <br />habitat and the environment. At this time the Park Commission was not aware of any projects that <br />would be applicable but, in the future they would like to apply for the grant to purchase additional <br />land next to the 100 acre "Creekview" Park if it becomes available. The Park Commission also <br />discussed the Outdoor Recreation and Local Trail Connection grant programs. The Park <br />Commission was interested in applying for both of those grants by the March 31, 2005 <br />deadline. The Park Commission stated that they would like to consider the park at Diamond Point <br />East for the Outdoor Recreation Grant and consider Local Trail Connection grant for trails along <br />the south side of future CSAH 8 and connections to the south. <br />Pedersen made a motion, Weidt seconded, to apply for the Outdoor Recreation Grant and Local Trail <br />Connection grants by March 31, 2005. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VIII. Discuss Youth Sports in Hugo <br />This item was tabled until the next meeting. <br />IX. Updates <br />A. Planning Commission — Gave an update on approvals for new school and developments. <br />B. City Council - None <br />C. Kitty Cheesebrow - None <br />D. Chris Petree — Asked for volunteers to update Park Master Plan and assist in writing grants. <br />Park Commissioners Jim Keithahn and Kitty Cheesebrow volunteered. <br />X.
