Minutes <br />Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Meeting <br />July 14, 2004 <br />5:00 p.m. <br />City Tour (meet at City Hall) <br />Meeting Chair: Kitty Cheesebrow <br />Minutes By: Chris Petree <br />Present: Parks Commission: Kitty Cheesebrow, Pete Pedersen, Tom Weidt, Jim Keithahn <br />and Jennifer May. <br />Planning Commission: Kelly Bailly. <br />City Council: Mike Granger. <br />Staff Chris Petree and Bryan Bear. <br />Consultant: Laurie McRostie. <br />Absent: Roger Clarke and Steven Lacher. <br />I. Approve Minutes from June 9, 2004 meeting <br />Cheesebrow made a motion, Pedersen seconded, to accept the Minutes from the June 9, 2004 Parks <br />Commission Meeting. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />II. City Tour <br />1. Oakshore Park -Park Property w/ Laurie McRostie <br />Park Commissioner Pedersen provided an overview of the history and past use of the Oakshore <br />Parkā€”Park, emphasizing the wishes of the current landowners that any future park on this site not <br />be lighted or designed for league play. Possible uses that were suggested by Park Commissioners <br />include: practice size soccer fields, basketball court, picnic area/shelter, backstop, trail <br />connections and 2 parking lots (No Thru Road). Consultant Laurie McRostie informed the Park <br />Commission that she would take the ideas of the Park Commission and develop a master plan for <br />the park using a neighborhood park theme. <br />2. Beaver Ponds Park <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided a status update on Beaver Ponds Park and the new <br />Parking lot that will be constructed as part of Beaver Ponds South. Consultant Laurie McRostie <br />also informed the Park Commission that she will complete the updated landscaping plan for this <br />park shortly. <br />3. Rice Lake Park <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided a status update on the feasibility study that is being <br />completed for the Rice Lake Park. The feasibility study should be completed in August and will <br />provide the City with a true cost estimate and phasing guideline for the development of the Rice <br />Lake Park. Petree also updated the Park Commission on the schedule of the Public Works <br />Page 1 <br />
