Review Sketch Plan for Wilderness View 3rd Addition <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an overview on the concept plan and staff report for <br />Wilderness View 3rd. The Parks Commission decided to take Park Dedication fees in lieu of <br />land. The Parks Commission also stated that they would like a trail on the west side of Fondant <br />Av. N. from the northern property line to the southern property line. Also, the Parks Commission <br />requests that a trail be constructed on the southern most street that runs to the east and west <br />property lines. <br />Kirk made a motion, Cheesebrow seconded, to accept fees in lieu of land for Wilderness View 3rd <br />Addition and to include/construct trails within the development as discussed. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VI. Review Plat for Oneka Lake Townhomes <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an overview on the preliminary plat and staff report <br />for Oneka Lake Townhomes. The Parks Commission decided to take Park Dedication fees in <br />lieu of land. The Parks Commission also agreed with the location of the sidewalk within the <br />development. <br />Cheesebrow made a motion, Gabrielli seconded, to accept fees in lieu of land for Oneka Lake <br />Townhomes. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VII. Skate Park Petition <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with a petition that has been <br />submitted to the City signed by more than 150 youth and residents of the City of Hugo <br />requesting a skate park. The petition was drafted by Pete Rainer and his son Joe, who <br />addressed Council on this issue outlining why they think such a facility is needed in the <br />community. The Council has directed the Parks Commission to come back with a <br />recommendation on the skate park. The Parks Commission reviewed the petition and stated <br />that it had been included in the 2006-2010 CIP but was unfunded. Parks Commission members <br />discussed the need for a skate park and agreed that the tennis courts at Lions Park would be a <br />suitable location. Parks Commissioners would like to form a committee of members from the <br />Parks Commission, Lions Club, Fire Department, Hugo youth and City staff to design an area for <br />a skate park/tennis courts/basketball court in Lions Park. <br />Cheesebrow made a motion, Gabrielli seconded, requesting that Council include/fund $150,000 <br />in the 2006 Parks CIP for the construction of a skate park/tennis courts/basketball court at Lions <br />Park. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VIII. Discuss 2006 DNR Grant Programs <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an overview of the grant programs available with <br />the DNR for 2006. The Parks Commission discussed DNR grant programs for 2006, but did not <br />identify any applicable projects. <br />Cheesebrow made a motion, Pedersen seconded, not to apply for DNR grants for 2006 at this <br />time. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />
