The Parks <br />Commission also suggested that a sand volleyball court be located in the southwest corner of <br />the park. <br />Cheesebrow made a motion, Clarke seconded, to accept the plan for Diamond Point Park and if <br />space allows to include a sand volleyball court in the southwest corner of the park. Also, that <br />City staff schedule a neighborhood meeting for the May 10, 2006 Parks Commission meeting to <br />select playground vendors. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />V. Picnic Shelter Selection for Beaver Ponds Park <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided a overview of the picnic shelter for Beaver Ponds <br />Park. The City received quotes for shelters similar to the one at Oneka Lake Park. <br />Kirk made a motion, May seconded, to select St. Croix Recreation to provide the Litchfield <br />Industries picnic shelter at Beaver Ponds Park and to select Brown as the steel frame color and <br />Evergreen as the metal roof color. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VI. Update on Oakshore Park -Park Acquisition <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an update to the Parks Commission and request <br />direction from the Commission on the purchase of the Oakshore Park -park property. Following <br />significant discussion and review of the Parks Master Plan and Parks 5 -year C.I.P. the Parks <br />Commission made the following recommendation. <br />Clarke made a motion, May seconded, to inform the Oakshore Park association and City Council <br />that acquisition of this park is consistent with the master park plan however, funds are not <br />available from the Park Fund to support the asking price for the property. Also, if acquisition of <br />the property takes place for a lesser amount than the asking price, the Park Fund would not have <br />funds for improvements at the Park for at least the next 5 -years unless a referendum were <br />passed. Furthermore, the Parks Commission would consider alternative offers only if it does not <br />financially restrict funding for already identified parks projects. <br />Voting Aye: Cheesebrow, May, Clarke, Gabrielli <br />Voting Nay: Kirk <br />VII. Update on Skate Park Committee (Roger Clarke) <br />Tabled until the June 14, 2006 Parks Commission meeting. <br />VIII. Eagle Scout Projects for 2006 <br />The Parks Commission discussed possible park projects for boy scouts wishing to complete as <br />Eagle Scout projects. The following is a list of potential projects: screening for portable <br />restrooms, 105 acre park improvements (trail construction, benches, tree clearing, and <br />boardwalk construction) and coordinating referendum efforts. <br />IX. City Bus Tour May 4, 2006 <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission of the City Bus Tour that will <br />take place on Thursday, May 4, 2006. Commissioners are asked to meet at the new Oneka <br />Elementary School at 3:30 p.m. There will be an hour tour of the new elementary school <br />followed by a City Bus Tour and dinner at the Rice Lake Centre. The City Bus Tour will begin at <br />4:45 p.m. and will conclude back at Oneka Elementary at approximately 8:30 p.m. <br />
