Updates: • Senior Programming (Dan Gabrielli): Parks Commissioner Dan Gabreilli provided an update on the meeting he attended on November 30, 2006 that discussed gaps in senior services. Parks Commissioner Gabreilli explained that many officials from different cities and organizations were there to work on improving senior services. Parks Project Funding Committee: Parks Commission Chair Roger Clarke and Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that the Parks Project Funding Committee had met and decided to recommend to the City Council to disband the Committee. The Committee felt that working on the Comprehensive Plan and the Parks Master Plan in 2007 would answer many of the questions that the committee had and would allow for input from the community. • 2007 Parks Goals: The Parks Commission held a lengthy discuss and decided on the following goals for 2007. Repayment of Community Gym = $333,333 Oakshore Park -Park = $400,000 TOTAL = $733.333 Other goals for 2007: • Update Parks Master Plan • Form Implementation Committee for Rice Lake Park • Parkland acquisition for a large softball/baseball complex VI. Joint meeting with City Council & Planning Commission to discuss new Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for January 25, 2007 at 7 p.m. Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission of the joint meeting with the City Council, Planning Commission and Parks Commission on January 25th to discuss the new comprehensive plan and encouraged everyone to attend and participate. VII. Parks Commissioner Terms Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with an updated list with all of the Parks Commissioner terms listed. City staff is recommending that terms on the Parks Commission be changed from March 31St to December 31St to coincide will all other City commissions. Parks Commissioners stated that they did not oppose this change. VIII. 2007 DNR Grants Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with a list of DNR grant opportunities for 2007. The Parks Commission discussed the available grants and felt that none of the grants were applicable/feasible for the City's current projects.
