Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Minutes <br />March 14, 2007 <br />Page 2 <br />neighborhoods however, Concept Plan C fit best with the natural amenities and would be <br />the least expensive to construct for that reason. <br />May made a motion, Berger seconded to accept Concept Plan C for Oak Shore Park and <br />make the following changes to the plan: reduce parking to 20 spaces, change basketball <br />court to half -court, consider adding horseshoe pits and change loop trail around <br />wetland/pond area from wood chip to bituminous. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />IV. Washington County Land and Water Legacy Program <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with an informational flyer <br />regarding the Land and Water Legacy Program and also informed the Commission that City <br />Councilmember Chuck Haas has been appointed to serve on the committee for the Land and <br />Water Legacy Program. Staff asked the Parks Commission to consider opportunities for projects <br />in Hugo and that this item would be placed on an upcoming agenda for further discussion. <br />V. Discuss Potential Eagle Scout Projects for 2007 <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that he had been contacted <br />by a Boy Scout that was requesting help from the City for an Eagle Scout project. The following <br />ideas were generated by the Parks Commission and staff for potential projects: create <br />trails/clear brush on the City's 100 acre park, Oak Shore Park (landscaping, wood chip trails, <br />etc.) and installation of distance markers along the Hardwood Creek Trail. These items will be <br />shared with the Boy Scout to see if any of these projects meet the criteria for an Eagle Scout <br />project. <br />VI. Skate Park Committee Update <br />Parks Commission Chair Roger Clarke was absent from the Parks Commission meeting and is <br />the Parks Commissioner that attends the Skate Park Committee meetings. Therefore, this item <br />was tabled until the April 11, 2007 Parks Commission meeting. <br />VII. Oneka Elementary Gymnasium Program Update <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided a brief update on the programming at the Oneka <br />Elementary Gymnasium. All of the programs have had good participation and attendance levels. <br />All of the programs at the gymnasium will end in the next two months and staff will then provide <br />the Parks Commission with a more comprehensive report. <br />Adjournment: <br />Schmidt made a motion, Parker seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 p.m. <br />All Aye.
