Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Minutes <br />April 11, 2007 <br />Page 2 <br />Washington County requesting proposals for the Land and Water Legacy Program. Public <br />Works Director Chris Petree also informed the Parks Commission that City Councilmember <br />Chuck Haas has been appointed to the Land and Water Legacy Committee by the County <br />Board. The Parks Commission generated many ideas for the program, most notably identifying <br />trail corridors that could be funded through this program. Public Works Director Chris Petree will <br />discuss these opportunities with Washington County and report back to the Parks Commission at <br />next months meeting. <br />V. 2007 Eagle Scout Projects <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree has had interest from a local Boy Scout to perform his Eagle <br />Scout project for the City of Hugo in the City's 105 acre Park. This project could include the <br />construction of passive trails, trail markers, benches and signage. Parks Commission Chair <br />Roger Clarke has volunteered to work with the Public Works Director and this Boy Scout to <br />further identify the scope of this project. <br />VI. Skate Park Committee Update (Roger Clarke) <br />Parks Commission Chair Roger Clarke provided an update on the Skate Park Committee <br />meetings that he has been attending. The White Bear School District in conjunction with the City <br />of White Bear Lake has identified Podvin Park for the potential site for a skate park. Committee <br />members are continuing to work through funding sources for the skate park. Parks Commission <br />Chair Roger Clarke will continue to provide periodic updates on the committee's progress. <br />VII. Oneka Elementary Gymnasium Program Update <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with an update of the fall/ <br />winter programming that took place at the Oneka Elementary Gymnasium. Both City and School <br />District staff were extremely pleased with the attendance levels in all of the activities. City and <br />School District staff will continue to work together over the spring/summer months to refine the <br />programming for next fall/winter to make sure that the programs continue to advance in both <br />quality and attendance. <br />VIII. White Bear Lake School District #624 Community Services & Recreation Summer <br />Schedule and Program Catalog <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree shared the summer programming catalog with the Parks <br />Commission and answered questions relating to the summer programming in Hugo. <br />Adjournment: <br />Pedersen made a motion, Parker seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 p.m. <br />All Aye.
