Minutes <br />City of Hugo <br />Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />May 9, 2007 <br />7:00 p.m. <br />Council Chambers — City Hall <br />Meeting Chair: Roger Clarke <br />Minutes By: Chris Petree <br />Present: Parks Commission: Roger Clarke, Pete Pedersen, Rachel Berger and Melissa Parker <br />Staff Chris Petree, Public Works Director. <br />Absent: Russ Schmidt and Dan Gabrielli. <br />Approve Minutes From April 11, 2007 Meeting <br />Pedersen made a motion, Parker seconded, to approve the minutes from the April 11, 2007 <br />Parks Commission meeting. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />II. Resignation of Parks Commissioner Tony Groff <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that Parks Commissioner <br />Tony Groff who was appointed to the Commission on March 19, 2007 has resigned. Tony and <br />his family have moved to Forest Lake, thus not allowing him to continue his term as a Parks <br />Commissioner. <br />III. Washington County Land and Water Legacy Program <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that City Staff met with Jane <br />Harper, Washington County Land and Water Legacy Program Administrator, on May 3, 2007. <br />Staff discussed a potential project that would include a corridor from the Egg Lake/Rice Lake <br />Area north along Hardwood Creek and then west to the City's border. This area has been <br />identified by the Rice Creek Watershed district and other agencies as a critical natural resource <br />and should be preserved if at all possible. Public Works Director Chris Petree shared a map <br />with the Parks Commission identifying these areas. City staff has requested that the Parks <br />Commission support a proposal to the Washington County Land and Water Legacy Program <br />allowing for land acquisition and conservation easements along this corridor. <br />Pedersen made a motion, Clarke seconded, to direct City staff to submit a proposal to the <br />Washington County Land and Water Legacy Program for land acquisition, conservation <br />easements, etc. for natural resource preservation along this corridor. <br />All Aye.
