Minutes <br />City of Hugo <br />Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />June 13, 2007 <br />7:00 p.m. <br />Council Chambers — City Hall <br />Meeting Chair: Roger Clarke <br />Minutes By: Chris Petree <br />Present: Parks Commission: Roger Clarke, Pete Pedersen, Rachel Berger, Russ Schmidt and Dan <br />Gabrielli. <br />Staff Chris Petree, Public Works Director. <br />Absent: Melissa Parker. <br />Approve Minutes From May 9, 2007 Meeting <br />Pedersen made a motion, Gabrielli seconded, to approve the minutes from the May 9, 2007 <br />Parks Commission meeting. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />Updates: <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided a brief Power Point presentation and updated the <br />Parks Commission on the items below. <br />• Diamond Point Park Repairs: All park repairs were completed in May 2007 from the <br />damage that occurred in October 2006. Damage total nearly $12,000. <br />Oak Shore Park: Plans for the project have been revised and approved by the City <br />Council changing the parking lots to 9 spaces on the north & south sides as well as <br />turning the southern parking lot to run east & west. Demolition of all of the buildings was <br />completed the week of June 4th and the site clearing was completed this week. The <br />grading, parking lot and stormwater infrastructure construction will take place in the next <br />few months. <br />• Withrow Elementary Playground Replacement: Earlier this year the Parks <br />Commission approved a donation to the Withrow Elementary school for <br />replacing/upgrading their playground structure. The work was completed in May 2007. <br />III. NE YMCA Needs Assessment <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that the NE YMCA is <br />conducting a needs assessment and forming focus groups with youth, adults and seniors to <br />identify areas that the NE YMCA could improve/expand its programming. <br />Page 1 <br />
