VI. Update on Hanson Property Neighborhood Meeting <br />Taylor updated the commission on the Hanson property neighborhood meeting held on <br />September 2, 2009. Point discussions were on interim use, access entry of the property <br />and security issues while the park is inactive. Staff was directed to prepare an interim <br />use list and bring back Commission for review. The Commission discussed holding <br />public hearing in November to present a proposal for the interim use of the park and to <br />start the planning process. <br />VII. Hanifl Foundation Donation/501.0 Non-profit Organization <br />Shayla Syverson, Economic Development/Parks Intern reviewed the discussion made at <br />the July 20, 2009 City Council meeting to formalize relations with the Hanifl foundation. <br />Since that time the Park and Recreation Programming Sub -Committee discussed <br />potential board members and named the organization "Friends of Hugo Parks and <br />Recreation". The next step is working with City Attorney Dave Snyder on creating a <br />501 c3. Tentative Board Members areas follows: <br />Jim Taylor — President <br />Katie Riopel — Vice President <br />Sharon Hanifl — Lee <br />Pete Pederson <br />Matt Raushendorfer <br />Russ Schmidt <br />Derek Larsen <br />Scott Anderson <br />Anna Wobse - Treasurer <br />Derek Larsen made a motion, Strub seconded for staff recommendations of board <br />members to be accepted. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried <br />VIII. Lion's Park Tennis/Basketball Court <br />Scott Anderson, Public Works Director went over his estimate to resurface the tennis <br />courts at the Lions Park. The approximate cost for material is $7-8,000 and does not <br />include equipment. Asphalt would sustain a life expectancy of approximately 5 years <br />and needs to be considered as an interim use only. Taylor directed staff to review the <br />skate board park costs for a level 3 park with proper height requirements leading to no <br />supervision and utilizing concrete. Taylor also requested pictures of other parks offering <br />this in the surrounding communities. <br />IX. Budget Discussion <br />Scott Anderson, Public Works Director went over the estimate of fund balances <br />worksheet. Roger Clarke requested to set aside money in future budgets for small <br />project proposals, such as the that of the Boy Scouts and to start making priorities for <br />the 2010 budget in November. <br />
