Minutes <br />City of Hugo <br />Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />December 9th, 2009 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />Call to Order <br />Roger Clarke Called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. <br />Present: Roger Clarke, Rachel Berger, Dan Gabrielli, Derek Larsen, Melissa Parker, <br />Dave Strub, Jim Taylor. <br />Absent: Noel Schmidt <br />Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director <br />Shayla Syverson, Economic Development/Parks Intern <br />Debi Close, Parks Secretary <br />I. Approval of Minutes of November 18th, 2009 <br />The minutes were corrected to note the absence of Derek Larsen. <br />Berger made a motion, Strub seconded to approve the minutes of the November 18, <br />2009 Parks Commission meeting. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />II. Community Service Project Presentation from Olivia Hagen <br />Olivia Hagen addressed the commission for a community service project. She would <br />like to hold a Dog Walk event to raise money for charity. This event would be held at <br />Clearwater Creek Preserve in April and the funds would go towards helping homeless <br />pets at the Otter Lake Animal Care Center. Plans included registration, displaying <br />behavior expectations, charging a small fee, and having booths from local animal -related <br />businesses and activities. Volunteers have already been established to help run the <br />event. <br />Berger made a motion, Gabrielli seconded to allow staff time and resources to be used <br />to help support this event in Clearwater Creek Preserve. <br />
