Minutes <br />City of Hugo <br />Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />March 10, 2010 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />Call to Order <br />Jim Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />Present: Rachel Berger, Kris Birch, Roger Clarke, Derek Larsen, Dave Strub, Mat <br />Rauschendorfer, Jim Taylor, Noel Schmidt, Tom Windisch <br />Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director <br />Shayla Syverson, Economic Development/Parks Intern <br />Debi Close, Parks Secretary <br />I. Approval of Minutes of February 10, 2010 <br />Larsen made a motion, Berger seconded to approve the minutes of the February 10, <br />2010 Parks Commission meeting. <br />All Ayes. Motion Carried. <br />II. Lions Park Neighborhood Meeting <br />Shayla Syverson, Economic Development/Parks Intern presented surrounding Cities <br />community parks photographs for discussion. Jim Taylor welcomed Hugo Lions Club <br />members Katie Riopel, Rusty Pastorious and Hugo youth Eric Romey and Brady <br />Peterson. Jim Taylor then opened the floor for discussion on redevelopment options for <br />the first phase of Lions Park. <br />Residents expressed interest in giving youth a constructive way to burn energy in the <br />park to eliminate vandalism and curfews issues. The option of a skate park and ice rink <br />was discussed. Residents spoke favorably about development of the park. Concerns <br />were raised over the current ice rink at Hugo Elementary and the baseball fields at Lions <br />Park not being available for public use. Residents also asked questions about sidewalks <br />and roads in the Lions Park neighborhood. <br />
