MINUTES HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS MAY 10, 2007 Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. PRESENT: Brunotte, Schumann ABSENT: Puleo ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director (CDD) Rachel Simone, Associate Planner Michele Lindau, Community Development Assistant Minutes of February 8, 2007 Brunotte made motion, Schumann seconded, to recommend approval of the minutes of December 14, 2006 as submitted. All Ayes. Motion carried. Hill Variance for Deck The Board considered the request of Paul and Angela Hill, 5713 128th Street North for a variance for a front yard setback to construct a 12' X 24' wrap around deck on their home. The structure would be located 18 feet from the front property line where a 30 foot setback was required by ordinance. The property is a corner lot which results in having two front yards on the north and the west side of the property. There is a deck door on the west side of the house and the applicant would like to utilize the door for access to the deck. The house was built in 2001 and was purchased by the applicant in 2006. Brunotte recalled staff was now following the practice of verifying during plan review that all future decks met the required setbacks. Schumann noted that some setbacks had changed since certain homes were constructed. Schumann opened the public hearing. Other than the applicant, no one was present who wished to speak on the request. Brunotte made motion, Schumann seconded, to recommend approval of the variance for 5713 128th Street North for a front yard setback. All Ayes. Motion carried.
