This annual fundraising
event is sponsored by the Hugo Lions Club. Hugo Lion Club Members Dan Balthazor, Paul
Neutkins, and Floyd Petty provided a recap of this year's Good Neighbor Days Festival. The
final numbers from the event were not yet available, but they anticipated it to be better than last
year. Dan talked about the sober cab option the Lions provided to ensure people made it home
safely, and the importance of keeping the event at Lions Park because it is centrally located in
the City. Also discussed with Council was the possibility of changing the parade route to end at
Lions Park, which would encourage more attendance at Good Neighbor Days Festival after the
parade on Saturday. Floyd Petty explained that anyone who wanted to become a member of the
Lions Club should contact them or attend one of the meetings, which are held the first and third
Wednesday of each month. Hugo Good Neighbor Days is the Lions' largest fundraiser event.
Other fundraising events are the Hugo Hoe Down in the fall and the Circus, which will be held
next year.
Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to accept the report on Hugo Good Neighbor Days, and
work with the Sheriff's Department and Katie Riopel, a.k.a the Parade Lady, to discuss a change
in the parade route for next year.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
