MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2012 <br />Mayor Miron called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Klein, Petryk, Weidt, Miron <br />ABSENT: Haas <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, City Attorney Dave Snyder, City Engineer <br />Jay Kennedy, Senior Engineering Technician Steve Duff, Accounting Clerk Anna Wobse, and <br />City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />Approval of Minutes for the September 17, 2012 City Council Meeting <br />Weidt made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the minutes for the September 17, 2012 City <br />Council meeting as presented. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Minutes for the September 18, 2012 Planning Commission Interviews <br />Klein made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the minutes for the Planning Commission <br />Interviews held on September 18, 2012 as presented. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of the Agenda <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the Agenda as presented. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Recognition of PAWS Pet Hospital for Service to the Washington County K-9 Unit <br />PAWS Pet Hospital has been providing care for the Washington County K-9 Unit since PAWS <br />first came to Hugo in April, 2010. The Washington County Sheriff's Department has seven dogs <br />in the K-9 Unit. Sheriff Hutton was in attendance along with Washington County Sergeant Sara <br />Halverson; Sergeant Wieland; and Deputy Brad Volk and Joel Legut with K9 partners Xander <br />and Zeke. Sheriff Hutton talked about the incredible dimension to service and protection the K-9 <br />unit adds to the Department, and the appreciation they have for the care and commitment of <br />PAWS Dr. Michelle Beck and her dedicated staff. Dr. Beck introduced her team. Attending the <br />meeting with her was: Jill Nordstrom, Anne Gillson, Dr. Heidi Johnson, Angie Novatney, and <br />Andrea Bernier. Sheriff William Hutton presented a plaque to Dr. Michelle Beck and publicly <br />thanked her and the entire PAWS staff for their veterinary work. <br />Presentation of Resolution and Certificate of Appreciation to Senator Ray Vandeveer <br />Senator Ray Vandeveer has served the citizens of Hugo since 1998 as the representative in the <br />MN House of Representatives and as the Senator in the Minnesota Senate. Senator Vandeveer <br />has decided to not run for reelection after his term ends at the end of this year. The Mayor and <br />Council talked about the important part Senator Vandeveer played in business expansion and <br />road improvement projects in the City.
