The most important part of
the process is gathering input from the various stakeholdlers. Judy Hunter, senior program manager
with Washington County, requested time before the Cou' icil to discuss the ,joint effort of the respective
county boards to -date. Both Ramsey and Washington counties are committed to ensuring that citizens
and businesses receive waste collection services that protect the environment, health, and safety of the
community; provide top-quality service; and are affordable and competitive. The City of Hugo has
seven haulers that provide refuse collection services to rdsidents and businesses alike. Ms. Hunter
stated that at this time, the counties are "only" doing a study. The Council felt it important that small
haulers be protected. Doug Carnival and Roger Vasko spoke on behalf of the small haulers asking that
they be considered in any decision-making process. Gene Wegleitner from Gene's Disposal, a licensed
