REQUESTS. COMMUNICATIONS & LICENSES
5.1 Richard Genrich - Special Use Permit
Mr. Zimmerman, prospective land purchaser, was present, and stated that he
would like the opportunity to conduct a wood splitting operation on the land
He stated that the operation was an agricultural product, and would fit
with the surrounding area. Spitzer mentioned the concerns of the local
citizens relating to truck traffic and damage to the roads. Zimmerman
said that they would be doing no delivering in the spring months, because
they have to abide by the state regulations. Their business would con-
sist of wholesale only ( local chain stores and private home owners) .
They have no intention of having individuals coming to the site to
purchase wood. The operation would employ four people - six at the most.
The Special Use Permit would be granted for the entire 105 acres, but
only be located as indicated on the site plan. Zimmerman did not feel
that noise would be a factor in the operation because of the use of
electric motors, hydraulicly driven. The logs would be brought in at
100", cut into 16" pieces and then split. Zimmerman stated that a
private access would be constructed on the property to service trucks,
and Spitzer requested that road be indicated on the site plan.
Zimmerman was concerned that the city would be able to shut down the
operation at any time, and Spitzer stated that this was not ordinarily
the policy of the city. The city did have the option, though, if con-
ditions of the permit were not met.
