MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />MARCH 2, 2000 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 2"a day of March, 2000 <br />in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said <br />City. <br />Chair Matt Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m. and the following members of <br />the Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Matthew Anderson, Chair <br />Mr. James Broten <br />Ms. Carla Danielson <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson (arrived 7:36 p.m.) <br />Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser <br />Mr. Robert Schabacker <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />Mr. Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director <br />MINUTES Sc{zabacker recommended that the minutes of tl:e Februazy 3, 2000 meeting be approved <br />as submitted. <br />Motion seconded by Sackett Glaser. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />GORDIE Mr. Gordie Howe, developer of the new townhomes on the corner of Little Canada Road <br />HOWE and Jackson Street, appeared before the Commission to ask that the proposed trail leading <br />TOWNHOMES from the cul-de-sac north to the park be removed from his development. He stated that only <br />10 of the 22 units would actually use the path. Additionally, the development is being <br />marketed toward "empty nesters." Therefore, he questioned if the path would get much use <br />at all. Howe stated that the 8-foot path proposed would come very close to units 10 and I1, <br />and both units have windows that would face the path. He felt a path in that area would <br />infringe on their privacy. Also, a sanitary sewer line is proposed in that area. The path <br />would have to be placed on top of the sewer line. The Public Works Director does not like <br />the idea of a path on top of a sewer line. He cited possible freezing if the trail was plowed <br />during winter. <br />The Parks & Recreation Director felt there is still merit to having a path in that area to <br />prevent people from trespassing on the property to get to the park. Howe stated that he is <br />proposing landscaping to deter trespassers, but it is still possible that trespassing could occur. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
