MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING PLANNING COMMISSION LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA OCTOBER 10, 2019 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the I01h day of October, 2019 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Vice -Chair Nick Schwalbach called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. and the following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call: PLANNING Mr. Nick Schwalbach COMMISSION: Mr. Chris Kwapick Ms. Taelor Johnson Ms. Nicole Westadt Mr. Eric Thorson ABSENT: Ms. Dawn Kulousek Mr. Bill Buesing ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Chris Heineman, City Administrator Ms. Heidi Heller, City Clerk Mr. Bill Weber, Weber Community Planning Mr. Christian Torkelson, City Council COMPREHENSIVE The City Administrator explained that tonight's workshop is to continue PLAN UPDATE discussion on the Comprehensive Plan. He stated that are using Planning Consultant Bill Weber to help finish the plan and be able to submit an acceptable document to the Metropolitan Council. Mr. Weber introduced himself and reviewed his extensive background with 41 years of planning experience. He stated that he has reviewed the draft plan and is working on making it read better and be easier to use. He explained what is still needed and that he expects to be able to have a final draft ready by the end of the year. The Planning Commission, City Staff and Mr. Weber discussed the topics of Rice Street corridor and related zoning code improvements, manufactured home parks, sidewalks and bicycling. He noted that a bike/pedestrian bridge is really needed over I-35E and the freeway has really divided the city, and that the Little Canada Road bridge over the freeway is very difficult for any type of pedestrians to navigate over.
