MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br /> PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br /> December 3, 2009 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br /> Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 3rd day of December, <br /> 2009, in the council chambers of the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East iu <br /> said city. <br /> Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of <br /> the commission were present: <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair <br /> Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br /> Ms. Patti Sullivan <br /> Mr. Dan Slain <br /> Mr. Kevin Steinert <br /> Ms. Katie Lo]maugh <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Tom Maida <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br /> Mr. James Morelan, Park & Recreation Director <br /> Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary <br /> <br /> MINUTES: Slain made a motion to accept the minutes from the November meeting, seconded by <br /> Sullivan. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> NEW <br /> BUSINESS: THUNllER BAY PARK PLAYGROUND IMPI20VEMENTS <br /> Chair Fahey stated the November minutes showed a favorable neighborhood reaction to the <br /> recommended improvements to the Thunder Bay Park. She asked what the next step would <br /> be in the process of implementing the improvements. <br /> Morelan stated the commission should make a request to the City Council to budget the <br /> Thunder Bay Park suggested improvements. Sanders said the cost estimates total <br /> approximately $75,000. This includes $50,000 for the playground equipment and area, <br /> $10,000 for a new half court basketball court, and $15,000 for the trail and grading for the <br /> park. Morelan stated that $50,000 is currently listed in the Capital Improvement Fund <br /> proposal. Morelan recommended having the commission request approval of that proposal <br /> from the City Council at their December Council Meeting. Morelan said the Little Canada <br /> Recreation Association might be interested in funding a portion of the remaining funds <br /> needed. When the LCRA went into gambling three years ago one of their goals was to assist <br /> with funding the restoration of the city parks. <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br />
