MINUTES <br />NEW <br />BUSINESS <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />January 6, 2011 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 6th day of January, <br />2011, in the council chambers of the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in <br />said city. <br />Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of <br />the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair <br />Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br />Ms. Katie Lolmaugh <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Mr. Dan Slain <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Park & Recreation Director <br />Chair Fahey congratulated all three commissioners, Maida, Steinert and Steinwall, on their <br />reappointment to the Park & Recreation Commission. Morelan stated that he and Chair <br />Fahey interviewed eight other candidates and recommended to the City Council that the <br />incumbents be reappointed. Morelan commented on the large number of candidates <br />interested in the position and thought all of them were good representatives of the city. <br />Steinwall made a motion to accept the minutes from the November 4, 2010 meeting, <br />seconded by Slain. Motion carried. <br />SPOONER PARK RE- GRADING REQUEST BY CANADIAN DAYS <br />Sanders said the Canadian Days committee had requested at the November meeting that the <br />Spooner Park land south of the pavilion be graded by extending the rise to have a larger area <br />for the carnival and other vendors for the Canadian Days festival. Sanders stated this <br />grading could possibly be done but is waiting for more specific information from the <br />Canadian Days committee. He also stated that a meeting should be set with the Canadian <br />Days representatives to see if this project is worth the cost of the fill and grading. <br />Chair Fahey asked if this should be discussed at a later meeting in the spring. Morelan said <br />he thought the meeting should be set soon to have Canadian Days define their expectations. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
