MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />February 3, 2005 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 3`d day of February, 2005 in the Council <br />Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. <br />Vice-Chair James Broten called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of <br />the Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. James Broten, Vice-Chair <br />Ms. Molly Boss <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />Mr. Tony Mans <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Chair <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />MUTES Gray recommended that the minutes of the zneetizzg held on January 6, 2005 be approved as <br />submitted. <br />Motion seconded by Steinert. <br />Motion carried G - 0. <br />TOBACCO The Director stated that he did not have an update on this item yet. He was going to check with <br />IN PARKS some of the other Ramsey County Park Departments to see how they have handled this issue, <br />but they have not had a chance to meet. He will bring this information back to the Commission <br />at a future meeting. Broten asked if we have received public comments on this issue. The <br />Director said that he has not. Several Commissioners said that this type of ban would be <br />difficult to enforce. The Director mentioned that if we chose not to ban it by ordinance, signs <br />could be placed in selected areas requesting people not to smoke. <br />SKATEBOARD Sanders stated that it has been about a year since the Commission discussed the skateboard park. <br />PARK He presented different drawings to the Commission that came from the same company and <br />stated that the Commission had last talked about locating the park on top of one of the ice <br />skating rinks. Sanders also presented cosC estimates ranging from $45,000 to $75,000 and <br />indicated that the figures cover the equipment only. Paving would cost approximately $20,000 <br />to $30,000. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
