Mr. Nissen seconded the motion.
UPDATES ON RECENT ISSUES
Park Property on the East Side - Each member had received
a copy of a letter which was sent to several landowners on
the east side of the City , at the Park Board' s request . The
letter introduced the fact that the City was interested in
acquiring land on the east side for park purposes. The Park
Board had requested that the staff send such a letter to a
few people whose property they found prime during their recent
tour of the City. The letter was also sent to several others
to help get an idea of other possible sites.
Mr. Schumacher showed a map which indicated which parcel re-
ceived letters. To date, there has only been one response.
This item will appear on next month' s agenda.
VFW Donations - At last month' s meeting, staff was asked to
provide a list of the cash donations made by the VFW in 1985.
That list totaled $2 ,400 through October. The Board felt that
action should be taken to designate specific projects to be
completed with this money and the VFW should receive recognition
for their contribution. Later in the meeting this action was
taken (see "Park Signs") .
Sunset Oaks Park Dedication - Mr. Schumacher reported that
the City Council approved the agreement mutually conceived
by the Park Board and Tilsen Properties whereby the City will
receive Lots 13, 14 and 15 of Block 2 Sunset Oaks and $3,000
cash for park development . Mr. Schumacher has delegated the
responsibility for making sure the proper paperwork is completed
to Mr. Hawkins, the City Attorney. Mr. Schumacher will period-
ically check the status so that this issue does not drag out
any longer.
Tax Forfeit Property - A couple months ago the Board was informed
that the City could receive some tax forfeit property. City
staff took necessary action to obtain the land. To date, the
City has not received a response or transfer of the land.
This item will appear on next month' s agenda for an update.
