Seconded by
Mr. Sherer. Motion carried.
BMX TRACK
This agenda item was delayed due to Mr. Kleinhas ' absence. However, when
brought to the floor, the discussion of the Council 's concerns as summarized
by Mr . Schumacher revolved around a March 16 letter stating the needs of the
track and disposition of each item:
A concrete slab for starting has been completed for approximately $120 ,
paid for by Lions .
City crew completed addition of eight to ten loads of "Class 5" .
Signs identifying track are completed as donated by Lions .
At this time, no members were aware of any conflicts in power usage . Track
was to make arrangements with Luther ' s to run power during use rather than
installing electricity to the track.
The one item which has not yet been completed is the announcer 's tower (at
an approximate cost of $250-$350) which the Park Board authorized at an
earlier meeting. A concern was voiced regarding a possible noise problem
with the completion of the announcer 's stand. The consensus of the Board
was that the equipment to be used will not have the ability to cause a
nuisance to the surrounding residents . Mr. Schumacher will present the
question of the announcer 's stand at the next meeting of the City Council .
A suggestion was also made that the BMX track could use another one or two
trash barrels . Mr. Schumacher to check on this .
DRAFT SUMMARY, RECREATIONAL SURVEY FOLLOW-UP
In Jim Flannery 's absence, Mr. Schumacher circulated the draft summary .
The Board unanimously agreed that it has been put together in the best
interest of the Board and should be published in the three area news-
papers . Mr. Schumacher to contact Mr. Flannery and see that the summary
be published.
DISCUSSION OF PURCHASE OF WATER WORKS PROPERTY ON BALDWIN LAKE
Mr. Schumacher brought to the attention of the Board that representatives
of the St. Paul Water Works Department have questioned the City of Lino
Lakes as to whether or not we intend to continue to lease a ten-acre
parcel of land at the south end of Baldwin Lake. They own the piece of
land which we have leased for approximately 15 years at $1 per year for
recreational purposes . During this lease period, nothing has been done
with the land.
