December 27, 1977 <br />51 <br />Mayor Bohjanen said he would like to say something before he left this Council. <br />Eleven years ago he had been approached for an appointemet to the Council had re- <br />ufsed the appointemnt and was elected to the Council at the next election. Then <br />decided he'd like to sit in the center on the Council table, so ran ans was elected <br />to the Mayor's position. He has enjoyed his time on the Council, in both positions. <br />Mayor Bohjanen said he and enjoyed this last two years the most. This has been a <br />good working Council that stuck to the jab and has gotten a lot done. He said he <br />will still be around. Mayor Bohjanen thanked all the Council members for their <br />cooperation. <br />Mr. Zelinka moved to approve Checks #8481 through and including #8502. Seconded by <br />Mr. Karth. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Bohjanen asked Mr. Karth to approach the Mayor's <br />presented Mayor Elect Karth with the official gavel. <br />Mr. Karth accepted, with 'Thanks' and moved to present <br />as a memento of his years of service. Motion carried <br />Mr. Zelinka said he had enjoyed his years as a Council member and felt that <br />recognition should be given to the individual Council members; Mr. Schneider for <br />his endless job of making the figures balance, Mr. McLean for his diplomacy in <br />dealing with so many different kinds of requests dealing with land use from so <br />many different people; Mr. Karth for maintaining the roads so well that few com- <br />plaints are received. As his last official act, Mr. Zelinka turned over his keys <br />to the City Hall to the Clerk. <br />Mayor Bohjanen said he has many things to sort out, but will turn over the City <br />property at the January 4, 1978 meeting. <br />Mr. Zelinka moved to adjourn at 9:20 P.M. Sarner, Celrk- Treasurer <br />January 4, 1978 <br />The special meeting of the Lino Lakes City Council was called to order at 8:00 P.M. <br />on January 4, 1978 by Mayor Karth. Council members present; Kulaszewicz, McLean, <br />Schneider. Mr. Locher was also present. <br />Since this is a special meeting, there were no minutes to be considered. Mayor <br />Karth turned the meeting over to Commissioner Burman. Mr. Burman introduced Mr. <br />Redipenny and Mr. Ruud of the County Highway Department. <br />Mr. Ruud presented a map showing the proposed rebuilding of Birch Street. This <br />Street would be regarded and resurfaced to give a driving surface of 24 feet with <br />two ten feet surfaced shoulders. Mr. Ruud explained that there are a couple of <br />spots where the planned ditch could not be installed - in those areas a curb and <br />boulevard will be installed. There are also several areas where the relocation of <br />the roadbed will be necessary for enviormental reasons. The present plans call for <br />teh removal of only one structure. <br />The subject of upgrading County Road 14 was discussed. It was felt this is a much <br />more traveled roadway and some consideration of rebuilding this road should be <br />
