might have to make before purchase. The cost to Centerville for policing is
$3.50 per capita which population figure is 534; total cost per year equals
$1869. Mr. Marier felt this hardly pays more than the cost of hiring the extra
patrolman at $125 per month. Mr. Myhre stated that we did not hire an extra
patrolman just for Centerville, but had long planned to put one on anyway.
Mr. Jaworski moved to accept the contract as proposed for policing Centerville
for the period of February 1st to December 31st, 1972 with payment to be made
by August 1st. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Motion carried unanimously.
The matter of plastic pipe for plumbing was discussed. The Clerk was instructed
to obtain copies of the new State code. The matter was laid over for the next
meeting.
Al Dupre reported on information received at the workshop for building inspect -
ors which he had attended in January. The new State Building Code is based on
the Uniform Building Code which the Village had examined a couple of years ago.
Prefab, mobile and modular homes must be allowed if they have a State seal on
them. These can be located anyplace which has residential zoning. There are
still questions on the zoning of parcels split out of a farm. A double build-
ing permit fee will be charged if construction is started without first getting
a permit. There was discussion. Mr. Dupre stated that he had heard that the
minimum area for a house will be 500 sq. ft. A Minneapolis inspector had told
him that this code would set Minneapolis back 50 years.
Mr. Cardinal moved to approve the cigarette license applications from the
following: Ruth Freeman, Baldwin Lake Motel, Luther LeVesseur, Henry Speiser,
Edward Kruse, Stanley Thayer and Dave Fineholt. Seconded by Mr. Marier.
Carried unanimously.
The bills were audited. Mr. Myhre stated that 2 sets of snow tires had been
purchased for the squad cars within a week or so. Mr. Jaworski moved to pay
the bills as audited. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski moved to adjourn at 11:55 p.m. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Seconded
by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Bohjanen took up the matter of Glenn Rehbein's February 2nd letter request-
ing approval to go ahead with the sewer, water and street systmes for the
Shenandoah plat. Mr. Bohjanen felt that this should go for study by the P&Z.
Mr. Marier stated that Forrest Tagg had cancelled out of his hearing scheduled
for 8:30 p.m. at the P&Z meeting on Feb. 16th, so there was an opening for this
matter. Mrs. Swanson felt this matter should have gone to the P&Z first; Mr.
Bohjanen said that he liked to have such matters go before the Council first.
There was considerable discussion on this. Mr. Rehbein stated that he was only
asking for approval to go ahead with the plans, then when he gets the report
and plans he would go to the P&Z after getting approval from the Metro Sewer
Board. Mr. Marier thought that the P&Z should know Mr. Rehbein's intent and
should review his plans first, then it goeGto the Council.. Mr. Bohjanen felt
he should bring the preliminary plans to the P&Z.
