ANTHONY <br />2 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />3 OCTOBER 22, 2019 <br />4 <br />5 CALL TO ORDER. <br />6 <br />7 Mayor Faust called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />8 <br />9 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Faust invited the Council and audience to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />12 <br />13 ROLL CALL. <br />14 <br />15 Present: Mayor Faust, Councilmembers Gray, Jenson, Randle and Stille. <br />16 Absent: None <br />17 Also Present: Finance Director Shelly Rueckert, and Assistant to the City Manager Charlie Yunker. <br />18 Guests: Captain Jess Spiess and Officer Jim South <br />19 <br />20 CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE FOLLOWING <br />21 ITEMS. <br />22 <br />23 I. APPROVAL OF OCTOBER 22, 2019 CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. <br />24 <br />25 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Randle, to approve the City <br />26 Council Meeting Agenda of October 22, 2019. <br />27 <br />28 Motion carried 5-0. <br />29 <br />30 II. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. <br />31 <br />32 A. Body Worn Cameras Presentation. <br />33 <br />34 Captain Jeff Spiess and Officer Jim South made a presentation to the City Council on body worn <br />35 cameras and integrated technology in the Police Department. <br />36 <br />37 Councilmember Gray thanked the Police Officers for the update. He stated one of the things he <br />38 learned in the Body Cam Workgroup was that the data was going to be very difficult to deal <br />39 with, one of the big challenges, and wondered if there have been many data requests. Captain <br />40 Spiess indicated the Police Department has not had any data requests for body worn cam video. <br />41 He explained the Statute made it easier for them to deal with that. <br />42 <br />43 Councilmember Randle stated he was not really onboard with the cameras in the beginning, but <br />44 it was more from the City being this size and the cost attached to it. He indicated he was wrong <br />45 and thought it has been beneficial from a transparency standpoint and beneficial for the City and <br />46 the Police Department and has been a great tool. <br />47 <br />48 Councilmember Jenson appreciated the Police Officer's enthusiasm of the process and willing to <br />49 embrace it. <br />
