MINUTES <br />JULY 24, 1991 <br />PAGE 2 <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF VARIANCE REQUEST FROM DAVID BOWERS, 1530 IOWA <br />~~ <br /> <br />Hoyt explained that Mr. Bowers requested a two foot height <br />variance to enable construction of an eight foot fence along the <br />side of his deck for privacy purposes. Wallin moved approval of <br />the variance as recommended by the Planning Commission at their <br />July 22, 1981 meeting. Motion carried unanimously. <br />PURCHASE OF IDAHO/SNELLING PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT APPROVED <br />Jacobs moved approval of the purchase and installation of <br />playground equipment from Earl F. Andersen and Associates at a <br />cost of $14,982.00 as recommended by the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. Motion carried unanimously. <br />IDAHO SNELLING PARK RENAMED "CURTISS fIELD" <br />Baldwin reviewed the entries received in the "Name the Park <br />Contest" and explained that the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />had recommended the name "Curtiss Field" because of its <br />historical significance, ie., the park site was once a part of <br />the Curtiss Northwest Airfield. Council approved the name as <br />recommended. The residents, Myles Aiken and Shanna Janke, who <br />submitted entries relating to the old airfield, will be <br />recognized at the park dedication in October. <br />SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT 8 FOR HAMLINE AVENUE PROJECT APPROVED <br />Engineer Westerberg explained that the agreement relates to the <br />cost of soil borings and additional case iron fittings for water <br />mains the cost of which will be split between the City and Ramsey <br />County. The City's share of the cost will be $780.00. Gehrz <br />moved that the agreement be approved which carried unanimously. <br />PROPOSED RESOLUTION REQUESTING RAMSEY COUNTY TO PROVIDE PARKING <br />ON THE WEST SIDE OF HAMLINE, LARPENTEUR TO ROSELAWN <br />Baldwin presented Proposed Resolution R-91-41 which would allow <br />parking on the west side of the newly constructed roadway in <br />front of Falcon Heights residences. Originally a resolution had <br />been adopted prohibiting parking on both sides of Hamline, <br />however newly adopted MSA guidelines will now allow a parking <br />lane on one side. Jacobs moved adoption Resolution R-91-41 which <br />carried unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION R-91-41 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF HAMLINE <br />AVENUE BETWEEN LARPENTEUR AND ROSELAWN <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR NEW FIRE TRUCK APPROVED <br />Council discussed the specifications drafted by the Fire <br />Department for the purchase of a pumper truck and telesquirt at <br />an estimated cost of $295,000 after which Wallin moved adoption <br />
