Mayor Warkentien opened a discussion on the neighborhood policing meet- POLICING ing_which was"held recently following a series of robberies in the DISCUSSION northeast quadrant of the City. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Jackson, 1870 N. Snelling, Mary Duddleston, 1840 Asbury, and Carol Dashiell, 1861 Asbury, concerned residents, were in attendance for inuut. It was explained ghat the purpose of•-the neighborhood meeting was to discuss the recent robberies. Sgt. Fowler of the Sheriff's Department attended the meet- ing and informed the residents of methods to employ for prevention of burglaries. Mrs. Dashiell informed that she was quite disturbed with the policing service as she had, on two occasions, requested (through the dispatcher) that a deputy check on suspicious cars and the deputy did not respond. A lengthy discussion ensued regarding problems with the dispatchers and the lack of police protection during shift changes. Mayor Warkentien explained that he and the Clerk Administrator had met with Captain Spencer of the Sheriff's Department regarding policing problems and made him aware of the City's concerns. Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that there is a committee made up of the mayors of all cities contracting with the Sheriff's Department, the purpose of which is to study policing services. Mayor Warkentien assured the residents that the matter will be investigated further. Albert Yonas, 1596 Vincent, addressed Council requesting that the City ALBERT YONAS place more trees on the boulevard in front of his home where several 1596 VINCENT . diseased elm trees have been removed. The City had placed one tree REQUEST FOR and Mr. Yonan desired at least two additional trees. After a dis- BOULEVARD cussion Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, TREES that two or three trees be placed on the boulevard providing they can GRANTED be placed without interfering with underground utilities. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Yonas also inquired as to who is responsibile for mowing the grass on the triangular shaped pieces of land in the street by his residence. The Clerk Administrator was directed to check into the matter. Clerk Administrator Barnes presented for Council's consideration a SERVICE maintenance agreement on the Lanier Dictation Equipment at a cost AGREEMENT ON of $137.20 per year. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council- LAMER EQUIP- member Brown, that the City enter into a maintenance agreement with MENT APPROVEL Wahl & Wahl, Inc. for maintenance of the Lanier Equipment at a cost of $137.20 per year. Motion carried unanimously. Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that all necessary WINE LICENSE information has been obtained for the renewal of the Wine License FOR SAAKEY'S for Shakey's Pizza. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Council- PIZZA member Brown that the Wine License for Northstar Pizza dba/Shakey's RENEWED Pizza Parlor be renewed for the period from July 1, 1981 to June 30, 1982.
