SCHEDULED FOR <br />Following a short discussion Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council- 1/20/81 AT <br />member Eggert, that a Public Hearing be scheduled for January 20, 1982 7:30 P.M. <br />at 7:30 p.m. provided American Shelter presents the necessary, papers <br />by December 17, 1981 as stipulated by the Planning Commission at their <br />December 7, 1981 meeting and that the Clerk Administrator be authori- <br />zed to publish the hearing notice. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that the Hawkins Estate CLERK ADM. <br />would like to avoid the condemnation proceedings and has invited & ATTORNEY TO <br />negotiations for land purchase. The Clerk Administrator requested NEGOTIATE WIT':? <br />that Council consider authorizing him to negotiate with the Hawkins HAWKINS ESTAT= <br />Estate for purchase of land for a City Hall. Mayor Warkentien moved, FOR CITY HALL <br />seconded by Councilmember Steele, that the Clerk Administrator, with SITE <br />the assistanceof the City Attorney, be authorized to negotiate with <br />the Hawkins Estate for possible land purchase. Motion carried unani- <br />mously. <br />Mayor Warkentien presented a letter from Leah Johnson, 1524 W. Iowa, LEAH JOHNSON <br />asking that the City be supportive of .her request that her neighbor; REQUEST FOR <br />Robert Butala, 1530 W. Iowa, erect a 6 foot high redwood fence be- FENCE BE- <br />tween his proposed driveway and her property. Mr. Butala_had previous- TWEEN 1524 & <br />ly indicated a willingness to construct such a fence but Mrs. Johnson 1530 W. IOWA <br />did not desire a fence at that time. Council directed the Clerk <br />Administrator to convey the fence request to Mr, Butala for his <br />consideration. <br />Mayor Warkentien presented for approval the 1982 Policing Contract 1982 POLICING <br />with Ramsey County, the contract being identical to the previous CONTRACT WITH <br />year's contract with exception of the cost increase to $242,000. RAMSEY COUNTY <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Egger t, that the APPROVED <br />1982 Policing Contract with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department <br />be approved subject to approval by the Ramsey County Board. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />At the November 19, 1981 Council Meeting several residents of Fairview REQUEST FOR <br />Avenue requested that Council consider placement of a traffic light TRAFFIC LIGHT <br />at Fairview and Larpenteur Avenues. Since both Larpenteur and Fair- AT LARPENTEUR <br />view are County Roads Engineer Lemberg suggested that Council request & FAIRVIEW <br />the County to study the matter and determine whether or not all re- TO BE SENT <br />quirements for traffic lights will be met. He also suggested that TO COUNTY <br />the County be made aware of the proposed new City Hall which would <br />have an effect on traffic in the area. Councilmember Steele moved, <br />seconded by Councilmember Brown, that the Clerk Administrator be <br />directed to write Ramsey County requesting the County do a study <br />regarding a traffic light at Larpenteur and Fairview and that the <br />County be made aware of the possible City Hall construction. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Council discussed a request from several employees of the University ROSELAWN & <br />of Minnesota that the stop signs at Roselawn and Cleveland be removed CLEVELAND <br />STOP SIGNS <br />
