MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
JUNE 9, 1982
PAGE 3
In view of the fact that Jim Korf, Falcon Barbers, was in attendance to
object to the $10.00 per chair license fee Council took that item next.
Following a lengthy discussion regarding methods of charging for the
licensing Barber/Beauty Shops Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council-
member Larson that Barber/Beauty Shops be included in the "other business"
category which provides for a fee of $25.00. Councilmember Ciernia re-
quested that the motion be amended to keep Barber/Beauty Shop as a sepa-
rate category with a fee of $5.00 per chair with a $25.00 maximum. Mayor
Warkentien and Councilmember Larson accepted the amendment. Upon a vote
being taken the motion carried unanimously.
1

Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that the Clerk
Administrator be authorized to advertise for bids on Prior Avenue and
the Bernwood Addition improvements (including water, streets, storm sewer,
sanitary sewer and median cut), the b.id opening to be held at 2:00 p.m.
July 19, 1982 and the Public Hearing on the Prior Avenue and Bernwood
Addition improvements be scheduled for July 20, 1982 at 7:30 p.m. to be
followed by a Special City Council Meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that the Regular
Council Meeting of July 14, 1982 be cancelled. Motion carried unanimously.
Councilmember Larson inquired regarding certain changes in the new Fire
Station, ie: the window installed in the watch office after the Fire
Chief had requested the window be switched from the watch office to the
hall, surfacing of the concrete floors, the installation of safety edges
to automatic garage doors, installation of a hose rack and a request for
an enclosed ceiling in the fire truck bays. Engineer Lemberg explained
that his change order on the window in the hall was overlooked by the
contractor and, therefore, the second window is being installed at no
cost to the City, the floor will be surfaced with a sealer used in public
maintenance buildings (the Engineer would be willing to show the material
to the Chief), the garage door closers were not included in the original
contract (Councilmember Larson stated both she and the Fire Chief were
of the apinionthat the doors and the safety device would be installed),
the hose rack could be installed at a later date at a much lower cost,
it would be impossible to place the racks at the ceiling as the water
pipes are already installed in a lower area, and that he would discuss
with the Chief what he means by a enclosed ceiling as the ceiling is
precast concrete.
Following a discussion it was determined that the automatic doors and
safety edge were necessary and Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded
by Councilmember Eggert, that the door timers and safety edge devices
be purchased and installed for the Fire Department. Motion carried
unanimously.
Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that the
Engineer contact Chief Renchin and determine what hose reels are needed
and report back to Council. Motion carried unanimously.
1 1
BARBER/
BEAUTX
SHOP LICENSE
FEE SET AT
$5.00 PER
CHAIR WITH
$25.00
MAXIMUM
BID OPENING
ON PRIOR AVE.
BERNWOOD
IMPROVEMENTS
ON 7/19/82
PUBLIC HEAR-
ING ON 7/20
TO BE FOLLOW
BY COUNCIL
MEETING
7/14/82
MEETING CANG
ELLED
FIRE STATION
CHANGE ORDER
DISCUSSED
AUTO.
