MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING ~ C~
JUNE 9, 1982
PAGE 5
The matter of reviewing staff salaries was deferred until August when STAFF
the budget for 1983 is discussed. SALARIES
DEFERRED
Mayor Warkentien informed Council that Engineer Cook would like a decision
on whether or not the State Aid status is to be removed from Tatum St. and
placed on Albert St. as the State requires additional information on the NORTHOME
specifications and plans for State Aid Streets and his work is completed STREET
to the point where he must have a decision in order to complete the plans. DISCUSSION
Mayor Warkentien explained that there are many residents on Tatum who do STATE AID
not want that street improved and Council discussed the fact that Tatum STATUS TO
is in better condition than most o~ the streets. in the City. Council-" BE REMOVED
member Chestovich inquired as to whether or not all residents would be FROM TATUM
notified of the change and if a public hearing would be held. Mayor AND PLACED
Warkentien replied that the public hearing held March 9, 1982 satifies ON ALBERT
the law and allows Council 6 months to reach a decision. An assessment
hearing would be held later on.
Engineer Lemberg explained that by designating Albert a State Aid Street
the storm sewer project could be included and the cost to the residents
would be less for the complete Albert/Pascal/Storm Sewer Project than
for the Albert/Pascal street construction only. Council discussed at
length the addition of the storm sewer to the project which would be
required by the State if Albert is designated a State Aid Street.
Engineer Lemberg stated that the City must comply with State regulations.
Councilmember Ciernia expressed concern over making the change without
some idea of cost to the property owners and Engineer Lemberg worked
out a rough estimate indicating the cost to each property owner would
be approximately $400.00 per 50 foot lot as opposed to $600.00 per
50 foot lot as was estimated for the street improvements without
storm sewer.
Councilmember Chestovich recommended that the homeowners be notified
that there is an opportunity to designate Albert St. a State Aid Street
and if so the possibility exists that the storm sewer can be included
as part of the total program and at the same time decrease the estimated
cost. Council agreed that such a letter should be written if the State
of Minnesota approves the designation of Albert as a State Aid Street.

Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that Resolution RESOLUTION
82-21 be adopted removing Tatum as a State Aid Street. Motion carried 82-21
unanimously.
RESOLUTION 82-21
A RESOLUTION REMOVING TATUM STREET, LARPENTEUR TO
ROSELAWN, AS A MUNICIPAL STATE AID STREET
Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that Resolution
82-22 be adopted designating Albert as a State Aid Street.
