~.~~ <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 1982 <br />PAGE 5 <br />Councilr~mber Chestovich requested that Council consider storing approxi- <br />mately six storage boxes from Falcon Heights School in the new City Hall <br />(items such as pictures and plaques relating to the school and the <br />students). Following a discussion, Council suggested Councilmember <br />Chestovich check into the possibility of other storage places (Fairview <br />Center or Brimhall School) and report back at a later meeting. <br />DISCUSSION OF <br />STORAGE OF <br />SCHOOL ITEMS <br />Mayor Warkentien presented information regarding the regional meeting LEAGUE OF <br />of the League of Minnesota Cities and Association of Metropolitan CITIES & AMM <br />Municipalities to be held at the Holiday Inn in Maplewood on September MEETING TO BE <br />16, 1982. HELD 9/16/82 <br />Councilmember Ciernia moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that the ADDITIONS TO <br />following items be added to the agenda: (1) burning of the old warming AGENDA <br />house at the park, (2) new siren, and (3) need for traffic light at APPROVED <br />Larpenteur and Prior. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Ciernia moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that the <br />Fire Department be authorized to burn the old warming house at the City <br />Park. Motion carried unanimously. <br />FIRE DEPT. TO <br />BURN OLD WARM- <br />ING HOUSE AT <br />CITY PARK <br />Councilmember Ciernia expressed concern that the new City Hall will not <br />be equipped with a siren and requested that the Engineer present data SIREN <br />on types of sirens, costs, maintenance and placement, and suggested DISCUSSION <br />that, perhaps, Lauderdale might be willing to participate in the cost <br />since they would benefit. <br />Engineer Lemberg explained that one siren could be installed on a pole <br />at Fairview and Larpenteur which would cover up to 65,000 feet. The <br />cost for this rota ting siren would be approximately $15,000 including <br />the radio controls which could be activited by the Sheriffs Depart- <br />ment and the Fire Department. Councilmember Eggert inquired as to <br />whether or not the old siren could be remounted and was informed that <br />the siren is outdated and manually activited. <br />Councilmember Larson commented on the fact that there is no provision DISCUSSION OF <br />for a traffic light at Prior and Larpenteur as had been discussed at TRAFFIC LIGHT <br />the time the new City Ha11 specifications were drawn up. She expressed AT PRIOR & <br />concern that fire personnel might be injured when attempting to exit LARPENTEUR <br />from Prior onto Larpenteur. Following a discussion, Councilmember <br />Eggert suggested that since there will be no traffic light for the <br />present, perhaps a street light illuminating the corner would be of <br />some help. Mayor Warkentien suggested that Council address the possi- <br />bility of budgeting for both the traffic light and the siren. <br />Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Chestovich that REQUEST FOR <br />the Clerk Administrator be authorized to contact Northern States NSP TO INSTALI <br />STREET LIGHT <br />AT PRIOR <br />AND <br />LARPENTEUR <br />
