She was of the opinion that the Hemline project would <br />invite even more traffic and make Snelling a through highway. <br />Frank Villaume, Attorney for Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Hermes, owners of FRANK <br />the Hermes Shopping Center, that at the Her Mar hearing he had asked VILLAUME <br />if the Highway Department had reviewed the Falcon Heights City Engineers ATTORNEY FOR <br />drawing and was informed that they were giving it some consideration. NCRBERT <br />His clients felt that the City Engineers plan should be considered HF-,RMES <br />further. <br />Stan Stommer, 1729 N. Snelling, stated his objections to the service STAN STOA~R <br />road on the west side of Snelling and felt that a decrease in speed 1729 N. <br />would alleviate some of the accidents on Snelling. He stressed that SHELLING <br />in the years h® had lived in his home he had encountered no problems <br />existing onto Snelling without a frontage road. <br />Glen Olson, 1780 N. Snelling, stated that with the Federal and State GLEN OLSON <br />Governments cutting back on funds they should start by eliminating 1780 N. <br />the proposed Snelling project. He stated that he had never had SHELLING <br />problems with the traffic in the years he had lived in his home and <br />that his neighbors had indicated they have had no problems. He <br />commended Council for showing their abjection to the plan. <br />Council discussed the possibility of adopting a resolution stating ENGINEER TO <br />objections to portions of the project. Councilmember Ciernia felt MEET YdTTH <br />that it would be more effective if the City has someone with pro- MN DOT FOR <br />fessional expertise, such as the Engineer, continue the dialogue FURTHER <br />with the Department of Transportation. Council directed the Clerk DISCUSSION <br />Administrator to contact Engineer Lemberg requesting that he listen <br />to the tapes of the discussion this evening, that he meet and discuss <br />the matter further with the Department of Transportation, and that <br />he attend the February 9, 1983 Council Meeting. <br /> BALD~klIN, <br />Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Chestovich BIERBAUM & <br />that the following persons be reappointed to three year terms on MCGEORGE <br />the Human Rights Commission: Tom Baldwin, 1716 Albert, Russ RE-A?'POINTED <br />Bierbaum, 17u5 Simpson and Connie McGeorge, 2099 ~. Hoyt and that TO HUMAH RIGH <br />the following new appointments be made : Catherine Stiney, 11170 NE1M1~ APPOINT- <br />4Y. Iowa to complete the term of Cap Hanson, Gladys MacKnight, 1728 MENTSs <br />~?ascal to complete the term of Robert Yahnke, and Bobby Ray Thomas, STINEY, <br />1703 St. Marys to a three year term.
