Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Acting I2a.yor Larson presented the remainder of the items and the estimated <br />costs and informed Council that Fire Chief Renchin felt the costs were <br />extreme an opinion which Council shared. Fire Chief Renchin will attempt <br />to obtain lower prices on the other items. <br />Attorney Van de North introduced Trudi Gasteazoro of Briggs and Adorgan, <br />who presented to Council the recently completed codification and gave <br />a brief explanation of the codification. She requested that Council <br />review the material for discussion at a future meeting. <br />Council noted that the Conciliation Court ruled in favor of the City <br />on the Chehoski fairtime parking ticket appeal. <br />Council noted letters from Representative John Rose and Senator Neil <br />Dieterich regarding the problems encountered at the November 2, 1982 <br />election. <br />A. letter from United States Senator Rudy Boschwitz regarding the <br />registration of General Obligation Bonds was noted. <br />Council noted the City of Shoreview Ordinance relating to noise <br />control and a request that Falcon Heights consider participating <br />in the cost of acQUisition of a noise control monitor. Council <br />was of the opinion that existing Falcon Heights ordinances provide <br />adequately for noise control. <br />Council noted a letter from Milton C. Honsey, Former Chairman of <br />the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission, regarding solid waste <br />management. <br />Council briefly discussed the purchase of drapes for the City <br />Office. The matter was deferred until additional samples and costs <br />are obtained. <br />Attorney Van de North presented updates on the following items: <br />(1) Condemnation of City Hall Property, the City must pay the <br />additional X70,000 awarded by the Court plus six percent interest. <br />This is not the type of judgement which canoe levied or assessed. <br />(2) ,~ letter has been written to Mike Heffron of the Fairgrounds <br />regarding the State Legislature detaching the Fairgrounds from <br />any political subdivision, and (3) Research ras been done on the <br />law suit filed by American Shelter against the City, but that any <br />future steps should be taken by American Shelter, and if that firm <br />does not take action, the case will eventually be dismissed. <br />Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Chestovich <br />that Resolution 83-5 be adopted relating to local planning <br />assistance.
